After reading it, I thought I do my own as well.
Like Glee-chan, I'm doing 3 episodes per series.
Unlike Glee's, I'm going to include 3 episodes from The Animated Series as well.
With that out of the way, let's get this show on the road:
MY TOP FAVORITE STAR TREK EPISODES MEME
Top 3 Star Trek Episodes:
3.) Patterns of Force:
"The crew of the Enterprise visits a planet dominated by a Nazi culture and at war with its planetary neighbor."
Like the earlier 1920s prohibition era episode "A Piece of the Action," this episode has the crew dealings in the affairs of an alien-human culture based on an existing one from Earth's past - this time, Nazi Germany.
2.) The Doomsdays Machine:
"After losing his entire crew to an alien planet-eating machine, Commodore Matthew Decker pulls rank on Kirk in order to play a game of cat-and-mouse with the mechanical adversary. His efforts to destroy the menace place the Enterprise in grave danger."
I know, you might have saw this one coming, but I had to add this one. Inspired by Moby Dick, the dark nature of this episode about a captain seeking vengeance for losing his crew, along with its score, is simply fantastic.
1.) Tomorrow is Yesterday:
"After accidentally traveling back in time to 1969, the Enterprise rescues USAF Captain John Christopher from his crippled fighter jet. The crew struggles to return to their own time, while simultaneously returning Christopher to the Air Force, removing his knowledge of the future and all record of contact with the Enterprise."
One of the first Time-Travel episodes in the Trek franchise, this episode deals with what would happen if Enterprise came into our century and encounter someone from our time, how they would react, and vise versa.
Top 3 Star Trek: The Animated Series Episodes:
3.) One of Our Planets is Missing:
The Enterprise encounters a giant cloud creature that feeds on the energy of the planets that lie in its path. They determine it is heading for Mantilles, home to a Federation colony governed by former Starfleet officer Bob Wesley (featured in the ST/TOS episode 'The Ultimate Computer')"
This episode for me is a sequel to the TOS ep The Immune Syndrome. Only instead of a giant Ameoba, it's a giant red, sentient cloud. For me, this was a "Fantastic Voyage" episode.
2.) Yesteryear:
"Spock must travel to the past, using the Guardian of Forever, to rescue his younger self from danger and restore his own history."
A sequel to City on the Edge of Forever, this Spock-centered episode deals with self-paradox. My only beef is how the hell was Kirk not effected by the change in the timeline at the beginning of the episode when Spock's adult history was erased.
1.) The Time Trap:
"While exploring the Delta Triangle, where many Starships have disappeared, the USS Enterprise is attacked by several Klingon vessels. During the battle they are caught in an ion storm. The Enterprise and one Klingon battle cruiser are drawn into a space-time vortex and end up in a timeless dimension."
This episode was a cool one for me, as it featured a ton of different ships all caught in this red void. Plus it dealt with a community of Starships living together and learning to truly get along without conflict.
Top 3 Star Trek: The Next Generation Episodes:
3.)The Neutral Zone:
"A derelict satellite is found containing cryonically frozen humans from the 21st century as the Enterprise is sent to investigate the destruction of outposts near Romulan space."
I like this first season finale episode, but NOT because it brought back the Romulans and foreshadowed the Borg, but because of the 3 people from the 2Ist century who wake up in the 24th and try to adjust to their new environment, with the financier, Ralph Offenhouse (Peter Mark Richman), being a total prick, while musician L. Q. "Sonny" Clemmons (Leon Rippy) makes the most of it and actually becomes friends with Data. It was a clash of cultures episode that I really enjoyed.
2.) A Matter of Honor:
"Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) is assigned to a Klingon vessel via an officer exchange program between the Federation and the Klingon Empire."
This Riker episode was all about seeing how the Klingons operate. It was an interest meeting of two-worlds that really made the KDF shine.
1.) Parallels:
"Worf finds himself randomly shifting between alternate realities."
What can I say about this episode? It features Worf traveling between different versions of the Enterprise throughout the multiverse. What attracted me to this episode was the many different versions of the Enterprise bridge, including the one with Riker in command. Loved how they make different versions of the set.
Top 3 Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Episodes:
3.) If Wishes Were Heroes:
"Deep Space Nine is put in jeopardy when the crew's thoughts manifest themselves, and such figures as Rumpelstiltskin appear."
This has to be the only season 1 episode I really like. I enjoyed it for the void that appeared near the station, and seeing that it wasn't real.
2.) Family Business:
"Quark returns to his home planet to confront his mother after hearing from the Ferengi Commerce Authority that she broke the law by earning profit."
This episode showcased Ferengi society for the first time. It gives us a little insight into their world and how it works.
1.) Trials & Tribble-ations:
"Darvin, the disgraced Klingon spy from the TOS ep 'Trouble with Tribbles', travels back in time to kill James T. Kirk during the original incident. The DS9 crew must prevent him from altering the timeline."
This is THE DS9 episode fans had been waiting for. For me, this 30th anniversary episode was a real fan treat, as it was a crossover with the original Tribble classic episode and blended in with each other quite nicely.
Top 3 Star Trek: Voyager Episodes:
3.) The 37's:
"A group of humans from the 1930s are found in stasis on a seemingly abandoned planet, including the lost Amelia Earhart."
Like the TNG episode "The Neutral Zone," this 2nd season episode dealt with Voyager finding humans from the 20th century and reviving them in the 24th. It was a personal favorite of mine as it featured the Voyager landing for the first time.
2.) Hope & Fear:
"Paris and Neelix return from a mission with a passenger named Arturis who knows more than 4,000 languages. He manages to decode a message from Starfleet that could lead to a way home."
Only one reason I love this episode: The Dauntless! >=3
1.) Relativity:
"Captain Braxton recruits Seven of Nine to stop Voyager being sabotaged."
With my sonic OC being a 29th century trek character, was there ever any dough? This 7of9-centered episode gave me more insight into Braxton's century and how the Starfleet of the future protects and monitors the timeline.
Top 3 Star Trek: Enterprise Episodes:
3.) Carbon Creek:
"Sub-Commander T'Pol relates the tale of her great-grandmother & her Vulcan crew stranded on Earth in the 1950s."
Like Glee-chan said, The episode mainly is watching these guys try to blend in to 1950's America, which is actually kind of enjoyable.
2.) North Star:
"Investigating a planet found to be inhabited by humans, the crew find a town resembling the American 'Old West'."
Another alien world mimicking human culture from the past, only this time it's real Earth Humans, brought to an alien world for slavery, much like the 37's. And like the 37's, they won. It was a nice episode that dealt with Archer and company trying to cool tensions with the humans and the surviving aliens and helping them achieve equality and peace.
1.) In a Mirror, Darkly, parts 1 & 2:
"In the Mirror Universe, Commander Archer mutinies against Captain Forrest in order to capture a future Earth ship found in Tholian space. Later, Archer commandeers the 23rd-century Defiant from the Tholians and uses it in a nefarious power grab."
The sequel to the TOS ep. "The Tholian Web," where the original Defiant's fate is revealed. Also counting as a prequel to "Mirrior, Mirror," as it deals with the forming of the Terran Empire.
